Calico Basin Recreation Area Management Plan and Environmental Assessment

Providing Comments

BLM wants your feedback

The BLM’s Red Rock/Sloan Field Office is providing the public with opportunities to submit their comments on the Draft Calico Basin RAMP/EA during a 30-day period from November 8 to December 8, 2021. The Draft Calico Basin RAMP/EA would guide future development and provide management direction for recreation and resources within the Calico Basin Recreation Area, located in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area northwest of Las Vegas.

Comments, including anonymous comments, will be accepted at any time. Although comments will be accepted at any time throughout the remainder of the NEPA process, those submitted prior to December 8, 2021 will be the most helpful for development of the Final RAMP/EA. Your comments should be as specific as possible to ensure that your comments are understood and your concerns are addressed.

Substantive and useful comments are as follows:

  • Provide new information about the proposed project or suggest an alternative

  • Identify a different way to meet the project need

  • Suggest alternate methodologies for RAMP/EA analysis and the reason(s) why they should be used

  • Make factual corrections, or identify sources of credible research or data

Comments that are less helpful and considered non-substantive are those that:

  • Vote in favor of or against the proposed action

  • Agree or disagree with agency policy without justification or supporting data

  • Don’t pertain to the project area or the proposed project

  • Contain vague, open-ended questions
