Final Delisting of the Interior Least Tern from the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife, Southeastern United States

Virtual Announcement Event

On January 12th, 2021, EMPSi facilitated a live virtual announcement event for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). This event included a historic Endangered Species Act announcement on the final delisting of the Interior Least Tern from the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife.

The event consisted of announcements from various members of USFWS and USACE leadership, discussing the various conservation efforts that led to the successful recovery and final delisting of the Interior Least Tern, as well as the presentation of USACE awards to several conservation partners. Additionally, members of the public and media partners were able to ask questions to USFWS staff on the final delisting decision via the Zoom web platform or over the phone. This unique and historic event was attended by 170 members of the public and media. Included below are some clips from this virtual announcement event.

A recording and transcript of this virtual announcement event are available to the public. For more information on this final delisting, please visit the project website.
