USFWS Desert Tortoise General Conservation Plan
Getting Started with Using the General Conservation Plan
The Service strongly encourages potential applicants who wish to use the general conservation plan to apply for an incidental take permit to meet with our staff first. Such a meeting will assist applicants in preparing a conservation plan that fully addresses the requirements of the general conservation plan, which will assist in streamlining the incidental take permitting process.
If you have additional questions about the general conservation plan or would like to schedule a meeting to discuss use of the general conservation plan for your proposed project, please contact the Palm Springs Fish and Wildlife Office. For proposed activities in San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Kern, and Inyo counties, please contact Peter Sanzenbacher, Mojave Desert Division Supervisor at peter_sanzenbacher@fws.gov or 442-222-0165. For proposed activities in Riverside and Imperial counties, please contact Mary Beth Woulfe, Colorado Desert Division Supervisor at marybeth_woulfe@fws.gov or 442-287-9001.
