On January 13th, EMPSi facilitated a live press conference for the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in response to requests for interviews related to the unusual mortality event (UME) for manatees occurring in Florida and along the eastern coast.

The press conference consisted of a brief presentation and status update on the UME by USFWS/FWC staff. This was followed by a facilitated question-and-answer session, during which members of the media could ask questions relating to the UME either verbally via the Zoom web platform or phone or submit questions electronically.
