Thank you for visiting the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation project website for the Lower San Acacia Reach Improvements Project Environmental Impact Statement.

Here are a few updates!

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) concluded a 30-day public scoping period on June 30, 2023, and is currently reviewing input from the public to include in the upcoming Draft EIS. The project’s Geomorphology and Alternatives Description Report is also now available here. Reclamation has begun modeling efforts to inform the Draft EIS. The next formal opportunity for public participation will follow publication of the Draft EIS in summer 2025; however, Reclamation will continue to engage with Tribes, agencies, landowners, non-governmental organizations, and others through their process of analyzing and evaluating project alternatives.

Project Timeline Update

Reclamation’s engineering team has begun their modeling efforts to inform the technical analysis of alternatives for the Lower San Acacia Reach Improvements project. The modeling will specifically examine impacts of each alternative related to water resources, sediment, wildlife, and vegetation while incorporating climate change. The EIS timeline has shifted to allow for the best available science to be incorporated into the analysis of alternatives.

Reclamation anticipates that the Draft EIS will be available for review in summer 2025.

In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions: bor-sha-aao-lsari@usbr.gov.
